Professor of General and Addiction Psychaitry
Professor Ahmed El-Missiry is a consultant psychiatrist specialising in general and addiction psychiatry, with addition to his work with the Crisis and Home Treatment Team and personality disorder services in North London, he is an inpatient consultant psychiatrist at Nightingale Hospital. Professor El-Missiry previously headed the largest drug and alcohol detoxification unit in Southeast England.
Professor El-Missiry finished his training in the UK at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College, and he passed the Royal College of Psychiatrists membership in 2004 before being elected as a Fellow in 2020. In 2017, he was elected as a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a Fellow of the international society of addiction medicine after completing his international addiction medicine competency degree in 2005. Professor El-Missiry is a psychiatry professor at the World Health Organisation Collaborative Centre for Training and Research, and from 2010 to 2022, he was the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Regional Representative in Addiction.
